CARLSBAD — Carlsbad native Dale Janway has announced his candidacy for mayor.
The mayor's seat and six council positions are up for grabs in the city election to be held in March.

Janway is not a newcomer to local government. He served on the Carlsbad City Council from 1986 to 2000 and said he is prepared to roll up his sleeves again and work hard for the community.

CARLSBAD — A Carlsbad City Councilor and local attorney will run for the mayor's seat in the March Municipal Election.
Jeff Diamond, a Democrat, has represented Carlsbad's Ward 2 for the past eight years. He is seeking the position currently occupied by Bob Forrest, whose term ends in 2010.

CARLSBAD — Jim Grantner has announced his candidacy for a 2-year seat as Ward 4 city councilor.
The 53-year-old is currently serving on a two-year seat after replacing Nathan MacDonald in July.

Granter said he feels the appointment comes with an obligation.

"I have been blessed with the opportunity to serve. I don't take the blessing to serve lightly," he said. "I feel like I have a certain responsibility to finish what I started."

CARLSBAD — Former Carlsbad Medical Center CEO Fred Woody has announced his candidacy for the two-year Ward 4 seat on the Carlsbad City Council.

"I'm running to pay back the community for the good life I've had here," he said. "We need good, solid, capable leadership on the City Council."

CARLSBAD - Wendy Amato hopes to become Carlsbad's first female mayor and develop the community into a model green city. The former Carlsbad Mental Health councilor said developing ecotourism and the alternative energy industry would create more jobs and attract tourism to the city.

Caraway, a Democrat, is a partner with the McCormick, Caraway, Tabor and Byers Law Firm and has practiced law in Eddy County since 1976.
