Please tell your friends about Eddy County News.
This is a nice clean forum and well managed.
I think the amount of posts have gone down.
Let’s see if we can get our numbers up.

"It takes all members to make this work, feel free to to start a post about something that concerns you."

Thanks

It seems so many people in this day and age are more interested in sensationalism. I am afraid a genuine interest in a serious discussion just isn't appealing anymore.

Hi Jim, good post, things have slowed down.
Lets see if I can stir things up.
Questions: What do people think of business/businesses profiting from a local non-profit event held recently in Carlsbad?
Why is a certain Mexican food establishment in Carlsbad allowed to remain open after many infractions?
And food for thought: the other day I was watching Fox News and they were interviewing the former CEO of Ebay, Meg Whitman. The discussion was on the economy, and she said theirs 6 million business in the United States. In stead of bailing out all the sorry banks and auto mfg. why didn`t Congress encourage businesses to hire one additional employee? Thats 6,000,000 new jobs! Too easy I guess.
I`m outta here.

Actually the C-A Topix make it so easy for people, allowing anyone to comment without joining their forum, as well as commenting directly to a story in the paper.  I can see how that would draw a lot of people to comment there.  Also there the posting is a lot more lax, allowing people to comment completely anonymous for each posting, saying much as they please.  Since the C-A has tried to rein in the childish behavior they have improved.

Because this forum is a sublet of our main site Desert Photos, we can afford to keep it even when it is slow.  Hopefully it will be used as we had hoped it would be used eventually.  Now as far as The Carlsbad Whinery is concerned, I am not so sure I will renew the domain when it comes due at the end of a year.  It was started in fun and we weren't sure how it would be accepted.  But hey, it only cost us $7.99 a year and we thought it might be humorous.

Now when we talking in person about the vendors at a charity event it got me to thinking.  Perhaps if after expenses where met, the profit could be donated to the event.  I am sure you as a vendor keep a good eye on the profit margin or you couldn't stay in business.  By donating to the cause it would show you are not there just to make money off the patrons of the event.  I have no idea if the vendors that are at the event are doing that or not.

I have no idea why a resturant was allowed to stay open, but I could take a guess and bet I am not far off from the truth.

As far as the government bailouts, let's see how do I put this delicately, I do NOT  like this (censored) government giving my tax dollars to people who are incapable of keeping their businesses running.  If they fail they fail, someone else will take their place.  I realize in this day and age so many people have this foolish idea to just allow their children and government to "find their own way".  But the day of reckoning will come one day.  The day of the liberal will bring destruction to us all.  I remember one of my Uncles (who was a strict conservative) telling us that most liberals were people who just haven't learned the ways of the world yet.  It is one thing to have an open mind, but not so open their brains fall out.  Final note; with the people we have elected to the presidency and congress now, we are headed for doomsday.

But hey, that's just my opinion!

Nikon and I started The "Eddy County News" to be used by the community as a way for people to share their ideas, thoughts, needs, wants and complaints. I admit there is a lack of traffic in these last couple months, but We are not going to shut it down. We had some problems when it first started due to some people wanting it to be just like the old "Rant", but Nikon and I just aren't into the Beavis and Butthead style. This forum will remain open for people to use it, even though we have decided to shut down a few other sites we have hosted on our server. Desert Photos is and always be our main site and this will be our second. Thank you for supporting this site and I will do all I can to keep it maintained for you.

When Nikon and I started this forum, its function was intended to be a board for the residents of Eddy County to share information.  There were several people who misused the board for personal reasons.  Therefore it got off to a rough start.  We are not reporters and never intended to be.  We hope that the people of Eddy County will use this board for their input and questions and thoughts.  There are all kinds of forums on the internet, Most do not allow name calling just as the rules on this one states.  The argument was how much name calling would be allowed, we said NONE.  Any argument is over when people resort to name calling.  We were told we had taken away people’s right to freedom of speech and that shows the lack of intelligence on their part.  We never took that away, we simply required that they act as adults.  Onehotmomma’s board does not allow that childish behavior and everyone gets along very well there.  We realize there is not always new stuff on this board, it is not our intention to make it our personal blog, we already have those.  There is a place for people to “blog” in the Community Central section, if they just want to vent.  I hope everyone realizes this board will not be taken down, as it only costs us $10 a year for the domain it is very economical, so feel free to use it.

It seems as though I have the problem with the hack secured, I set the directory back to this forum for now as I keep an eye on it. Actually it is not really back open, but if you decide to post or read knock yourself out. I do get frustrated with hackers who have nothing better to do with their time than mess with other people's site, but hey they simply don't have a life or a clue. I suppose their parents didn't raise them any better than Obama's did him.

I'm glad this site is still running. The name calling should never have happened, but some think they have to do it.they will never learn or change,so they get their hand slapped.I'm sorry for not being here for some time, but some know why I haven't been here. Grin !! But I'm back.hehehe. If people would just use their brain & think a lot of bad stuff (words) would not happen.but I know from my past job, that will not happen.I'm so glad Carlsbad has good people as of Don & Ruthie and Jim to bring out the good .Thank yall for caring.

So far I have the security under control. So the site is unofficially open, not sure how many will use it though. Rebel Nikon and I are very happy to see you back.
